Olson Iron Works of Churdan delivered 12 custom made planters to enhance the downtown business district in May 2021. Working with Main Street Coon Rapids team members, the new planters incorporate one of the prominent visual elements that is part of the city’s new rebranding and marketing plan adopted by the city last summer.
The project has been in the works for almost a year, with members of the planter task force -- Annie Rudolph, Gayla McCool, Katie Mason and Mary Kennedy -- coordinating with Olson Iron Works to forge an attractive customized look for the planters. Their efforts have paid off handsomely as the planters look very appealing on their sidewalk locations up and down Main Street. The planters compliment the new black steel waste receptacles delivered ear-lier this year.
Once installed, a the planter task force planted geraniums, red spikes and other flowers in the planters.
