Purpose: To encourage the improvement of the Main Street District’s physical appearance.

1. Continue mini-grant program to encourage building improvement
2. Historic preservation education
3. Host design-related mini-workshops (window displays, interior store layout, merchandising)
4. Host regular (quarterly) downtown clean-ups
5. Identify MSI Challenge Grant candidate
6. Maintain planters, boulevard, and seasonal decorations
7. Plan and implement small beautification projects
8. Schedule Main Street Iowa Design Assistance visits
9. Research ways to help businesses with expansion and building improvements. Share available grant programs with interested building owners
10. Monitor current Challenge grant project
11. Monitor current Catalyst grant project
12. Bronze historical markers – Discussed using less expensive plaques more like what Carroll has
13. Downtown building greeting card program, postcard and/or coloring book
14. Implement a window display program partnership with CR-B art students
15. Improve downtown signage (remove former business signs, enhance current signs, add business hour signage)
16. Remove old Christmas Lights from building tops
17. Clean out the storage shed behind Katie’s office in preparation for façade construction before the end of October.
18. Cigarette containers to match garbage bins currently on Main Street – place in front of bars and Legion
19. Window Murals for businesses with boarded or bricked up windows  
20. Develop ideas for banners and posters for the construction zone for façade rehab this fall
21. Update building inventory (building information, current and historic photographs)
