Community connections are made and strengthened through a variety of community events hosted by local churches, organizations, clubs, the Coon Rapids Development Group, the City of Coon Rapids and private fundraisers. American Legions’ Fish Fry Dinners
The Coon Rapids American Legion Family hosts three Friday night Fish Fry Dinners during Lent.
Easter Egg Hunt
Main Street Coon Rapids sponsors a community Easter Egg Hunt each spring downtown. Kids hunt for eggs and then redeem the eggs for gifts at downtown businesses.
Main Street Block Party
We know how to through a great party! On the Sunday before Memorial Day we close two blocks of Main Street where we host a band and beer garden, bags tournament, bumper pool tournament, minnow races and an entire block of kids events (inflatables, carnival games, spin art, balloon art, face painting and more.
Golf Tournaments

Summertime wouldn’t be complete without golf tournaments. The Coon Rapids Golf Course holds monthly tournaments in addition to their annual June business outing.
Independence Day Celebration
Fourth of July holiday is celebrated in Coon Rapids with a series of events around the Fourth. Iowa Savings Bank offers a free lunch on their lawn, kids are invited to a Bike Rodeo and a Penny Dive before the local fire and ambulance departments BBQ and band. And of course, the whole thing is capped off with fireworks.

Coon Rapids is home to the Carroll County Fair. This annual event is held each July.
Carroll County Fair Figure 8 Race Series

Located at the Carroll County Fairgrounds in Coon Rapids, the Figure 8 Race series includes five races in June, July and August.
141 Garage Sales
Coon Rapids is one of over a dozen communities along Highway 141 that hosts city-wide garage sales the first weekend in August.

Musicians from across the country entertain in small venues or private homes in Coon Rapids all year long. The concerts are open to the public.
Downtown Dash and Dine
Gather a group of friends for Main Street Coon Rapids adult scavenger
hunt Labor Day weekend. You’ll use clues and solve riddles to navigate
around Coon Rapids completing a dozen fun tasks enroute to winning the
hunt. This newest event is just one of three entertaining activities
planned during MSCR’s Downtown Dash and Dine. Following the scavenger
hunt, MSCR hosts a social hour and full meal topped off with great
entertainment from Dueling Pianos at the American Legion Building. Dubbed the Annual Downtown Dash and Dine, proceeds from this event
support MSCR’s work to revitalize downtown and grow Coon Rapids.
Treats on the Streets
Youngsters are invited to travel up and down Main Street’s business district collecting candy from local businesses the Saturday closest to Halloween.
Trick-or-treating
The City of Coon Rapids typically designates October 31 as the official trick-or-treating night for kids in the community.
Christmas in a Small Town
This annual tradition pairs holiday shopping with events for kids and adults the first Saturday in December. A soup and sandwich supper is capped off with the lighting of the town's Christmas tree and major gift giveaways.

Bingo
The American Legion hosts Bingo every Tuesday at the Community Building. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., play begins at 6:30 p.m.
