Coon Rapids shares a modern elementary, junior high and high school with the neighboring community of Bayard in
a mission to foster individuals who are connected to their communities, confident in themselves, excited about
living, learning, and contributing to our world. They inspire and develop all students to be responsible, life-long
learners. The school district is small enough that every student receives individual academic attention and the
opportunity to participate in music, athletic and fine arts programs.
CR-B averaged 11.13 students per teacher and had a certified enrollment of 391.1 in 2017 according to the Iowa
Association of School Boards.
The Iowa School Report Card
, reported the CR-B secondary
school to be in the commendable category with 28 percent of Iowa schools and better than 65 percent of state
school. It also reported that 83.1 percent of CR-B secondary students reached or exceeded the proficiency standards.
The CR-B elementary earned a high-performing distinction with 11 percent of the state and better than 59 percent of
the state elementary schools. Eighty-eight percent of elementary students were proficient in 2017.The Iowa School
