The City of Coon Rapids created the community coordinator position in June 2018 to advocate for and strengthen the community. A community coordinator was the overwhelming choice among 95 individuals who participated in a visioning exercise in February 2017 designed to help civic and community leaders focus on the needs for the future of Coon Rapids.

The community coordinator is the primary public relations representative of the community. She advocates for the community on behalf of the Coon Rapids Development Group, Creating Great Places and the City of Coon Rapids and promotes the community by working with regional and statewide entities. The goal of this position is to strengthen the community as well as the relationships between local businesses, CRDG, Whiterock Conservancy, CRMU, Creating Great Places, CR-B School District and the city.
