Coon Rapids Municipal Utilities, Iowa Savings Bank, Karl Chevrolet, New Way Ford and City of Coon Rapids support Main Street program with significant financial pledges

As a nonprofit, Main Street Coon Rapids (MSCR) relies on the generosity of investors to fund their downtown revitalization efforts. Which is why they are proud to announce that four local entities – Coon Rapids Municipal Utilities, Iowa Savings Bank, Karl Auto Group and New Way Ford -- have pledged $10,000 each to the MSCR operating fund. In addition, the City of Coon Rapids has again agreed to provide in-kind support by providing an office for the program and employing the MSCR director.
“Thank you to these entities for sharing our vision for a thriving downtown,” said MSCR Board President Joe Stitz. “Their financial support of our mission will enable us to continue our efforts to make Coon Rapids a vibrant community.”
In 2021, 170 businesses and individuals invested in the MSCR program with contributions ranging from $50 to $10,000. Their financial contributions enabled the organization to focus on downtown revitalization efforts that impact the entire community.
Since becoming a Main Street community in late 2019, the Main Street district has seen 16 completed building renovation projects (interior and exterior), $314,419.07 in private investment, $239,501 in building acquisition and $1,081,830 in grants awarded and public dollars pledged. Five new businesses have started or moved into the downtown district since 2019.
MSCR has hosted 52 events and tallied 6,409 volunteer hours from nearly 180 people. They spearheaded three streetscaping projects, installed wayfinding signs, opened public restrooms and provided local companies with resources to strengthen their businesses.
The continued support from the City of Coon Rapids, Coon Rapids Municipal Utilities, Iowa Savings Bank, Karl Auto Group and New Way Ford and numerous other investors, will ensure continued progress through the MSCR program.
To invest, contact the MSCR office at 712-999-4769 or donate online at coonrapidsiowa.com/mainstreet. MSCR is an IRS 501(c)3 organization so donations are tax deductible.
