Coon Rapids is connected to the world via a 96-count fiber optic backbone encircling the community, a 750 Mhz HFC (hybrid fiber coax) distribution plant and ring architecture to provide complete redundancy on the fiber optic backbone for residents and technology-dependent businesses. The city's progressive officials continually invest in infrastructure improvement, support economic development and expand recreational facilities. Two major bridge replacement projects have been undertaken recently to provide easy access into the community.
Coon Rapids shares a modern elementary, junior high and high school with the neighboring community of Bayard in a mission to provide all students the opportunity to develop their abilities to become self-supporting and responsible citizens, productive individuals and lifelong learners in a changing world. The schools are small enough that every student gets individual academic attention and the opportunity to participate in music, athletic and fine arts programs. The professional staff averages 14 years tenure, serving more than 438 students.
